Essential Job Functions: Under the general direction of the Director of Cloud Operations, the Web UX Developer is part of the Cloud Operations team who is responsible for the administration of source code control systems and the automation of build and deployment processes for all internally developed web applications. We embrace modern Agile-based principles such as automated builds, automated unit/acceptance testing, Continuous Deployment, managing infrastructure as code, and Just Enough Administration because we believe our Application Development team colleagues should be able to focus on what they do best writing software and not managing dependencies or environments. The candidate will work with a team of developers and their project manager/scrum master to ensure projects success. Their day to day requirements will be to meet at the Daily Scrum to report on what has been done, and what will be done, as well as request help and help others. Responsibilities Experience developing web applications with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DOM, JSON, AJAX Experience with Object Oriented JavaScript Frameworks (React, Angular, Ember, Dojo, Node etc.) Rapidly prototype with HTML/CSS/JavaScript using our Bootstrap-based UI design system. Ability to create low-level detailed designs as well as high-level conceptual designs for various user task flows. Conduct design research, user interviews, etc. to drive/validate design direction. Deliver various forms of UX design deliverables and ability to know which form is most appropriate for the situation (hand-drawn sketches, white board drawings, wireframes, flat mockups or high fidelity interactive prototypes). Experience with MVC frameworks and expertise in at least one 3+ years of professional experience in software development using Java or another OO programming language Design and architecture knowledge as well as familiarity with object oriented analysis and design patterns (OOA/OOD) Able to implement web content in WordPress and Drupal frameworks Understanding of CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms and complexity analysis Solid understanding of distributed systems and scaling of large shared systems Previously experience in multi-tenancy environment a plus Agile development methodologies Experience with responsive design and firm grasp of Mobile First methodologies Experience with usability testing and user research Attaining and achieving position competencies in relation to role responsibilities Minimum Education, Experience & Training Equivalent to: Solid understanding of Bootstrap 3.X UI framework 10+ years UX Design Experience Expert skills and extensive experience using JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, HTML, JSON, and JQuery Experience developing consumer facing websites Advocate for UX thinking and educate others in UX concepts/best practices. Ability to lead and indirectly influence and manage others Familiarity with AWS services You understand that great Engineering teams are built upon relationships, just as much as they are built on awesome code. Qualifications: Ability to obtain and maintain criminal record clearance through the Department of Justice. The People & Performance department must analyze DOJ/FBI live scan reports in accordance with applicable federal, State and local laws as well as fitness for position. Ability to obtain clearance through the Office of Inspector General Physical Requirements: Frequent speaking and listening (25-75%) to clients, staff, and others in the workplace. Visual and auditory ability to work with staff and others in the workplace continuously. Ability to utilize computer, cell phone (iPhone), fax machine, telephone and copy machine. Frequent proofreading and checking documents for accuracy. Must be able to communicate effectively within the workplace, read and write using the primary language within the workplace.
